“I should have read that book…” tag

This was a fun book tag that I saw over on Paper Fury. It was created by BooksNest. I’m tagging any of my readers who want to participate – just tag this with my blog and with the creator’s blog and answer the questions!

The Questions

  • A book that a certain friend is always telling you to read
  • A book that’s been on your TBR forever and yet you still haven’t picked it up
  • A book in a series you’ve started, but haven’t gotten round to finishing yet
  • A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read
  • A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read
  • A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but you just haven’t read it yet
  • A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up yet

A book that a certain friend is always telling me to read

Even though this particular friend hasn’t started telling me to read this book, I know she’s reading it and her mom actually told me that she was going to tell me I needed to read it, which I already knew because I heard so much about it! The book: The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke. This friend knows I like werewolves and dark stories so I hope she doesn’t steer me wrong.

A book that’s been on my TBR forever and yet I still haven’t picked it up…

The book that has been on my Goodreads TBR the longest is World Without End by Ken Follett. TWELVE YEARS. I can’t even with myself. I loved Pillars of the Earth, but that book took forever to read and I just haven’t felt like I have time for the sequel. I also don’t own it yet, and I know this will take longer than a library loan. Close second is Feast of All Saints by Anne Rice at 11 years – which I do own, but also it’s long.

A book in a series I’ve started, but haven’t gotten around to finishing yet

Well, I almost never DON’T finish a book, so I’m going to interpret this as not having finished the series yet. That series would be Strange the Dreamer. It’s only a duology, but I still haven’t picked up Muse of Nightmares yet. Which is odd, because I absolutely adored Strange the Dreamer. Like most of the books on this list, I think the size is intimidating me.

A classic I’ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read

The Little Prince is one that I’ve always wanted to read. It’s short, I used to watch the cartoon back in the 80s, and yet… it hasn’t happened. It’s also my friend Olga’s favorite book. And my niece wanted to read it. I really can’t explain why I haven’t read this book yet. It defies logic.

A popular book that it seems everyone but me has read

This summer, that book would be Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. It’s been on hold for about 6 months straight at the library, so I’m curious as to what all the fuss is about.

A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but you just haven’t read it yet

I absolutely love the Outlander series. And I have the first three books sitting on my bookshelf. And yet… I still haven’t read them. Part of the reason is because they’re so long, another part is because I own them so there’s no rush. And a third reason is probably because the Game of Thrones books were of a similar length and took me MONTHS to read. Ain’t nobody got time for that…

A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up yet

TEETH IN THE MIST! I’ll admit, I’m mostly seeing it all over Instagram because I follow Dawn Kurtagich, but I love love loved And the Trees Crept In and I’ve been eagerly awaiting this book for so long. I swear I’m going to read it soon!

So these are 7 of the books on my TBR – I’m just trying not to think about the other 350 or so books on my TBR!

What books have you been putting off reading? Feel free to comment on my selections or your own, or tag me if you decide to blog your whole list!
